Shenzhen Super Wal-Mart July 12, 2007

another great article on msn today about wal-mart’s in china.  i just visited one of the 4 wal-mart’s in shenzhen (78 total stores in china).  yearly sales increase of 30% vs. only 2% in the US.  the articles title is “keeping up with the wang’s, the rise of the middle class in china” super interesting.

i was very surprised at the grocery selection and how much of the fresh food selection was out for pickin!  there was a counter full of bloody chickens that customers were picking through with their hands.  fresh seafood was displayed out on ice and many unfamiliar delectables in cases.  the beauty area was extremely fancy with uniformed sales ladies just waiting to introduce you to the newest shampoo!  there was also sampling of heniken light.  http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com/Investing/StockInvestingTrading/WalMartChina.aspx#pageTopAchor

China executes… July 10, 2007

one of MSN’s headlines today was “China executes ex-head of food and drug agency”  in the article it states that 20% of food produced for consumption in china is less than satisfactory.  and that some bottled water and water coolers are really tap water.   the execution was a way to show the world that they were cleaning up their act and would be ready for the 2008 beijing olympics.

i’ve been back from china for about 2 weeks and have had some terrible stomach issues.  i avoid going to the dr at all costs, but finally went in yesterday.  my dr could not believe that i didn’t come in earlier.  i had 5 vitals of blood taken and have to do unspeakable poop tests at home!  blood work came back this am and i have a major bacterial infection and have started antibiotics.  they won’t know the exact issues until i submit my unspeakable tests.  i think i would be fine not knowing what it was exactly, skipping the tests, and wiping it out with the antibiotics.  i’m going to suggest this to my dr….

nyc memory that i just remembered… July 6, 2007

when i was in nyc, we were walking to lunch with my dear friend peter, when i saw 2 random people that i  know.  the first person, was the only straight (and hot) boy who use to work out at my gym, until he moved to nyc.  we miss him a lot at the gym.

the second person was so random, that i stared at him, went to go run after him, and then stopped myself b/c it couldn’t be.  he was my high school boyfriends exchange student from italy.  i’m kicking myself b/c i did not go talk to him, but confirmed that he is living in nyc.  it brought back such memories from high school.  how simple life was back then!

Life in General July 5, 2007

trip to nyc was entertaining.  we actually got stranded there overnight and slept on the floor at jfk.  that was after we sat in the airplane for 4+ hours with no air.  i can’t say that it is  listed on my top 10 most pleasant experiences.

my faith has been renewed that there are boys out there that i dig and who actually have their shat together.  my theme lately has been boys who do not live in minnie…but sometimes that isn’t such a bad thing!  i also almost became a cougar this week.  i had to stop myself mid-flirt.

the 4th rocked.  spent the day boating on lake mkta.  we survived a freak rain storm, but the sun always comes out!  then had everyone over on my rooftop.  i think it’s the best location in mpls for firework watching.

this weekend i’m going to the bascilla block party.  mixed feelings as i’ve gone in the past and it gets a so so rating.  going with a big group of peeps, so it should be fun.  then headed to wabasha for a peterson boating weekend.  think we’re going to lake city on saturday, my old stomping grounds.  i miss those sailing days.

going to golf league tonight.  psyched to try out my new fairway 5 wood.  i really need to take some lessons.  i embarassed all the boys when i played the rgcc course.  maybe, just maybe, i will be decent in time for the PGA show.  check back with me in Jan!
